Misano Adriatico, together with all the Romagna Riviera, is the setting for a huge variety of cultural events, concerts and folklore festivals, attracting hundreds of tourists every summer. These events take place in various locations: picturesque squares, historic theatres and old villages, or right on the famous wide beaches of the Riviera.

The summer season at Misano opens in April, with the Festa della Segavecchia, when the town is filled with music, entertainment, decorated floats and tempting food stalls. An event not to be missed, and involving the whole of the Riviera from Comacchio to Cattolica, is the famous “Notte Rosa” (Pink Night), on the first Friday in July. For a whole day, and from sunset to dawn, the beaches, streets, squares, shops, restaurants, night-spots and discos are all decked out in pink. Even the fireworks are pink! It’s a fantastic and captivating occasion, with lots of events, exhibitions, concerts, music and parades, and shops and museums staying open all night.

As in many resorts on the Rimini Riviera, there are plenty of traditional markets to explore in the main streets of Misano Adriatico. These include the “Arti e Mestieri” (Arts and Crafts) market, and the “Mercatino dei Cimeli” (Antiques Market): a display of old items and curiosities. At Portoverde, on the other hand, you can find the

“Mercatino dei Prodotti Naturali” (Natural Products Market). In August, classical music enthusiasts can enjoy free entry to a variety of concerts during the Misano Piano Festival: an event featuring both famous musicians and talented young artists, including pianists, violinists and orchestral players. Rimini also stages its own classical music season in September, the “Sagra Musicale Malatestiana” (Malatesta Music Festival), the oldest and most prestigious event of its kind in the Rimini area. It attracts international musicians of the calibre of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Zubin Metha, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, and Valery Gergiev.

In July and August, Cattolica plays host to the Stagione estiva della Regina (Queen’s Summer Festival), an important season of shows and concerts staged at the splendid “Arena della Regina” theatre. Moving inland, Santarcangelo di Romagna is the focus in July for the “Festival Internazionale del Teatro in Piazza” (International Festival of Outdoor Theatre), with delightful performances in some of the town’s most evocative locations. Also in July, the castle of Rocca di Luna at Montefiore Conca is the setting for a truly magical event. For three successive days, this fortress of the Malatestas is transformed into a concert hall, while the surrounding village participates with musical events, shows, staged tableaux and little markets.
