Circuit

The Misano World Circuit is certainly the best-known sporting facility at Misano Adriatico, and an important venue for international sports competitions on both two and four wheels. Every year, the Misano Autodrome hosts a number of motorcycle and auto-racing events, such as a stage of the International Moto GP and the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix.

The Santa Monica autodrome is equipped with a 4-kilometre track, and every year famous figures from the worlds of motorcycling and auto-racing come here to take part in important international competitions. The Santa Monica circuit plays host to such events as the Moto GP, the Superbike championships, and both Italian and international F.I.A. auto-racing competitions.  One uniquely Italian event is the European Truck Championships, dedicated to those giants of the road: 5-tonne trucks.

On weekdays, and those weekends free of competitions and events, the Misano Circuit organizes circuit trials. These are open to the public and can be booked directly on the Santa Monica circuit portal.

The Santa Monica Autodrome also contains a new 900-metre Test Track, which is used for Go-kart and Supermotard trials. There are also sports driving courses and safe driving courses for motorbikes, cars and heavy vehicles, organized by the Siegfried Stohr driving school.

The Autodrome was originally planned in 1969, but only opened as a sports venue in 1972.

The current circuit at the Autodrome measures 4226 metres, with approval to host 75,000 spectators, of which 26,000 are accommodated in the stands. A new stand with seating for 3,000 has been erected on the back straight: known as the “Brutapela”, it also acts as a sound barrier.

The lighting system for the Misano circuit has recently been updated, allowing competitions to be held at night.

In addition to sports events, the Santa Monica circuit also offers a range of superb facilities, including an internal restaurant, a swimming pool and a health centre: open to both professional and amateur drivers and motorcyclists. The health centre provides a variety of services, ranging from sport medication and physiotherapy to orthopaedics and cardiology.
